MISSION

To prevent substance misuse in childhood, adolescence, and young adulthood through unified, community action.

VISION

Port Angeles is a safe place where young people thrive, free from substance misuse and supported in their overall health and well-being.

SHARED PURPOSE

Together, we aim to prevent young people from developing an unhealthy relationship with alcohol, cannabis, tobacco, opioids, and other substances. Substance use disorder does not discriminate. All young people are at some risk of misusing and abusing substances.

  • Inclusive

We work with community partners to expand inclusive, and culturally relevant youth substance use prevention.

Our Coalition welcomes all people of every race, color, sex, nation of origin, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, and expression of profession, education and walk of life.

  • Data Driven

We make informed decisions based on accurate, reliable, and relevant data and prevention science.

Our approach is based on emerging and fundamental behavioral health frameworks informed by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) Strategic Prevention Framework (SPF).

  • Sustainable

As agents for change, we remain focused on achieving our long-term goal of reducing youth substance use.

In collaboration with partners, our Coalition makes every effort to sustain a prevention presence in Port Angeles through fostering community ownership, strengthening infrastructure, and prioritizing funding.

OUR COMMUNITY PARTNERS

The Port Angeles Healthy Youth Coalition is a voluntary partnership of residents and partners within the Port Angeles School District dedicated to working together to provide youth in our community with a foundation of health and well-being, equipped to cope with the challenges of life and adulthood without substance misuse.

We aim to have representatives from at least 12 community sectors involved in the Coalition to ensure that a broad range of community knowledge and expertise is included.
